The Natural & the Manufactured Thematic Project

Deadline: February 29, 2016 for the 2017 schedule

The Natural & The Manufactured is conceived as an ongoing, annual research project to involve visual, media and interdisciplinary artists, curators, art historians, writers and cultural thinkers through residencies, exhibitions, lectures, essays and workshops.

Each year 2 artists are invited to live and work in Dawson for 6-week residencies culminating in one gallery and one offsite exhibition. Traditionally programmed through an artist’s call for submissions, this year we invite proposals from guest curators.

The N&M curator will program exhibition-creation residencies for 2 artists (July 1 through mid-August, 2017), resulting in 2 exhibitions (one in the ODD Gallery / one off-site) opening Thursday August 18th, 2017 as part of the Yukon Riverside Arts Festival. The guest curator will host a public talk about the project as part of the festival and will provide an exhibition text for the brochure.
