The Natural & the Manufactured Thematic Project

Deadline: February 15, 2018 for the 2019 schedule

The Natural & The Manufactured is conceived as an ongoing, annual research project to involve visual, media and interdisciplinary artists, curators, art historians, writers and cultural thinkers through residencies, exhibitions, lectures, essays and workshops.

Each year 2 artists are invited to live and work in Dawson for 6-week residencies culminating in one gallery and one offsite exhibition. Traditionally programmed through an artist’s call for submissions, we now welcome proposals from guest curators.

The N&M curator will program exhibition-creation residencies for 2 artists (July 1 through mid-August, 2017), resulting in 2 site-specific exhibitions (both off-venue in 2019) opening Thursday August 16th, 2019 as part of the Yukon Riverside Arts Festival. The guest curator will host a public talk about the project as part of the festival and will provide an exhibition text for the brochure.
